More than $200,000 was raised at the 2018 Men’s Health Lunch, held on Thursday 10 May at the MCG.
This money will go directly toward prostate cancer research led by Associate Professor Nathan Lawrentschuk for a project trialling the combination of treatment and surgeries for metastatic prostate cancer, as well as the purchase of medical equipment for our cardiac operating theatres.
During the lunch, MC Dr Peter Larkins (sports and exercise physician) presented on the importance of a holistic approach to men’s health; while panel speakers, sleep specialists A/Prof Darren Mansfield and A/Prof Garun Hamilton spoke on the theme ‘Sleep (or lack thereof): obstructive sleep apnoea, snoring and insomnia’.
Chair of the Special Events Committee and EMF Board Trustee Cathi Biddick AM, also shared the direct impact the event has for patients at Epworth.
2018 marks the sixth Men’s Health Lunch and during this time over $1m has been raised and used to support clinical research projects across an array of men’s health programs at Epworth, equipment purchases, as well as the purchase of education and training equipment.
This event is led by a passionate team of volunteers on the Epworth Special Events Committee, and it is only possible thanks to the generosity of our sponsors and supporters.
Thank you to Special Events Committee members, presenters, sponsors and all staff who attended.
